Living Pretty.

The Unanswered Text Message

The unanswered text message is not the only type of  “text message” that can get your heat racing.

So, both of you have been talking for a little while. Everything is going great, you text each other back and forth all the time (it’s equal on both sides of the phone.) One day you’re dying to talk to him so you text him and you wait and wait and wait and there’s still no reply. For some women it’s natural for their thoughts to go into overdrive and sometimes even their actions become involuntary as if another person took over their body.

There’s not much to do at this point but here are a few rules to help you get through this situation:

Rule #1 Don’t Over Think
Freaking out and becoming paranoid is unacceptable and believe me when I say insecurity is not your best trait. You have to consider other possibilities other than thinking, “he’s ignoring me” or “why won’t he answer me? did I do something wrong?” Remember there’s a possibility that he’s asleep, in the bathroom, has stepped away from his phone or even that his phone has died. So calm down and do something that will keep you distracted.

Rule #2 Don’t Message Him
The truth is that sending more than two text messages right after the other before he has a chance to answer can make you seem crazy and desperate. So Just Don’t Do It. Wait for him to answer you back before hitting the send button. One of the last things any girl would want is for a guy to think that she’s annoying and has nothing else better to do.

Rule #3 The Ball Is In His Court
After you send the first text it is up to him to reply back. With guys it is extremely simple because if he wants to talk to you then he will and if he doesn’t then he won’t. Guys won’t waste their time on a girl that they don’t like. He might not reply back that same day or even the very next day but if he wants to talk to you then he will make the time to send that text. Just make sure you keep yourself busy and your options open in the mean time.

Rule #4 Wait Two Days To Send Another Text
From experience I think two days is a fair amount of time. If you text a guy on Monday and he doesn’t reply that same day or on Tuesday then I think Wednesday gives you enough time to try again. Saying, “hey, what’s up” is much less abrasive than asking him “where have you been?” or “why didn’t you reply the other day?” Not only will you sound like his mother you’ll also sound like another overbearing female. If he doesn’t text back (for the second and god forbid possible third time) then let him go and move on. It’s not worth going after someone who doesn’t care.

"Getting To Know Someone"

I’m a strong believer in getting to know someone over time. I hate when I meet someone for the first time and they begin to interrogate me like I committed a crime. I don’t like being asked 21 questions at once. Because as many questions as you ask me, won’t bring you closer to me. Knowing my favorite color doesn’t make us friends. The only way to truly know me is too hang out with me and talk to me more than once. Like most people I’ll tell you little things about myself every so often. You’ll learn what matters to me by being around me. Unconsciously I’ll tell you what makes me angry, what I love, the food I won’t eat and the types of people I don’t like. All you have to do is be there and just listen.

Are You Wearing Fake Eyelashes?

.. that's probably one of the best compliments that I've ever received. Mascara is definitely a girl's best friend and I've found a combination that works wonders on my lashes.

Side Note: I ONLY use Maybelline mascara and nothing else. It's my go-to brand for mascara. Also, I always go for the blackest mascara I can find because I love dark lashes.

Mascara #1: The Falsies Volum'Express in Blackest Black
Mascara #2: The Colossal Volum'Express in Glam Black

  • Originally I hated the Falsies, I thought it was designed badly, the wand was/is flimsy, and my lashes didn't look better or longer
  • I like the Colossal from the beginning but I wanted my lashes to look more dramatic so I mixed the two and got exactly what I've always wanted
  • Use the Falsies mascara first on one eye (I usually use two coats) and then immediately after use the Colossal mascara before the Falsies mascara dries (I use as many coats until my lashes look how I want). Then repeat on the second eye.
  • Practice makes for better lashes. You'll notice after a few attempts how much mascara to use.

*i'll take a picture the next time i do this*

Skincare Secret: Sea Salt

sea salt is a natural salt formed from the evaporation of ocean water or saline lakes that leave behind salt crystals.

"Natural sea salts are among the greatest ingredients for skin care, as they improve circulation, stimulate cell growth, exfoliate dead skin, reduce swelling, itching and pain and offer a number of essential minerals which absorb through the skin."

sea salt is great for acne prone skin, blackheads, and healing infected piercings.

AndreasChoice on youtube has a great video on different ways to use sea salt for skin:

Drugstore Skincare: Neutrogena Rapid Clear

I've been trying this new "system" my friend recommended called "The 3 Steps" Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize (2x a day)

Long story short I've had good skin, bad skin, good skin again and now I'm dealing with bad skin. I've always read about the 3 steps in magazines but I've honestly just been too lazy to try it. I decided that it's worth a shot and it's couldn't do me any harm.

I chose Neutrogena's Rapid Clear skincare line because it's cheaper than those expensive brands sold in sephora and what the dermatologists recommends and I Love It. My skin is behaving better than it has in months. After every use my skin feels fresh, clean and looks brighter.

I don't take my skin as serious as my teeth (but that's another story) but truth be told you can't hide your skin. You wear your skin everyday and as much makeup as you wear bad skin will show through and if you're using one of those fabulous foundation and concealer combinations and you can't see your skin underneath then you need to remember that makeup comes off at the end of the day and when you wipe away your face at night your skin should still look amazing.

1) Neutrogena Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub - $7
2) Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight & Fade Toner - $7
3) Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion - $7

Also, the Rapid Clear line has acne treatment pads which I use every so often

              4) Neutrogena Rapid Clear Maximum Strength Treatment Pads 60ct - $7

Cleanser: pick one that's right for your skin type
Toner: any brand should do the job
Moisturizer: try to use one with  SPF during the day if you can

Sweet Dreams, Big Apartments

My friend Iman posted pictures of apartments she would love to live in one day and it reminded me how I'm still not exactly sure what I want to do with my life. But all I do know for a fact is that whatever career I have at the end of day I want to come back to one "swagged" out apartment lol

I'm picturing lots of animal print, floor-to-ceiling windows, glass tables and white furniture, you know? the usual:
